Usage: Antidepressant, antiseptic (pulmonary, genitourinary), antispasmodic, antitoxic, digestive, diuretic, deodorant, laxative, parasiticide, stimulant, stomachic, tonic, vermifuge, and vulnerary. Used in bathing, hair care, inhalation, massage, and skincare. In this variety, the bergaptene content which causes photosensitivity has been removed. This allows the Bergamot to be used in skin and hair care formulations without concern for photo-toxicity after exposure to the sun

The name Bergamot is derived from the city Bergamo in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. The bergamot tree grows smooth leaves and star-shaped flowers, bearing a pear-shaped citrus fruit that resembles a cross between an orange and a grapefruit.
